Pooya Mobadersany dissertation defense

Today Pooya Mobadersany successfully defended his dissertation "Predicting time to event and clinical outcomes for high-dimensional data." Dr. Mobadersany joined the Computer Science & Informatics PhD program at Emory University in 2015 and pioneered development of new methods for predicting time-to-event outcomes using neural networks. His work on predicting survival in gliomas from histology images was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and led to many advances in the field. His later work focused on using attention to aggregate large regions while training convolutional networks with digital pathology images. Dr. Mobadersany will join Johnson & Johnson as a Data Scientist.
